Academic Holds

The most common academic holds restricting a student from registering for courses, changing course schedule for upcoming semesters, and dropping courses during the semester are:

  • pre-major advising
  • academic probation

Many pre-majors within the College will have advising holds requiring you to seek advising. Pre-music majors do not have an advising hold, but are encouraged to seek advising. Many majors in music will have advising holds requiring you to seek advising. You must be advised by an academic advisor to get your hold lifted. Plan ahead when scheduling your appointment since advisors can get booked several weeks in advance.
