Aaron FosterAcademic Advisor I

Noel FullerDirector
Director of the Fine Arts and Communication Advising Center
Noel has over 11 years of progressive higher education experience. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Adult, Professional and Community Education through Texas State.
Noel was an undergraduate student in the College of Fine Arts in 2008. During his time as an undergraduate student, he developed a profound appreciation for supporting students in their academic journeys.

Joel JohnsonAcademic Advisor I
Advises Music majors.
Joel began working as an Academic Advisor in The College of Fine Arts and Communication in 2023.
He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Music Studies. For many years, he taught Middle School Band in Austin and has enjoyed careers in a variety of other fields. After a long professional break to take care of his two young children, he found a perfect fit with The College of Fine Arts and Communication Advising Center, who was looking for someone to assist students in The School of Music. They seemed to agree. The rest is history.
Joel has lived in San Marcos with his wife, two daughters and animals for 15 years and has really enjoyed getting to know the wonderful students in The TXST School of Music. He is constantly inspired by their energy and love of music. He hopes to be a consistent presence, available to them whenever needed, over their time studying here.

Naomi OwsleyAcademic Advisor I
Advises for majors in Mass Communications, Communication Studies, Theatre, Art, and Communication Design.
Naomi received her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in History from Texas A&M University-San Antonio in 2019. She is currently getting her Master of Arts in Literature from Texas State University.
She has worked in and around education since 2020, and has worked at Texas State since 2022 as a Success Coach, an Instructional Assistant, and now an Academic Advisor I. She joined the CFAC Advising team April 2024 in the hopes of helping as many students as possible achieve their academic and personal goals.

Joseph WardAcademic Advisor I
Advises for majors in Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Art, and Communication Design.
Joe procured his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication – Public Relations from Southwest Texas State University in 2001. During his undergraduate, he worked on campus and began to see a life for himself here in the Hill Country.
After graduating, Joe was a Transcript Evaluator with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In time, he accepted a role as an Admissions Counselor, pridefully recruiting high school and transfer students to his alma mater. Joe joined the College of Fine Arts and Communication in August of 2019 and is housed in Old Main 118. He primarily advises students majoring in Mass Communication. Joe chose to work for Texas State because he believes in the mission of higher education and is often in awe of what Texas State has achieved and grown to in 25 years. He enjoys working with students and helping them to attain their goals in a timely manner while gleaning everything that this beautiful campus and area of Texas has to offer.

Natalee SchmultsAcademic Advisor I
Advises for majors in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Department of Communication Studies, School of Art and Design, School of Music, and the School of Theatre, Dance, and Film.
Natalee started working for the College of Fine Arts and Communication in June 2023 as an Administrative Assistant II and transitional to an Academic Advisor I in January 2024.
Natalee received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Texas State University in May 2023. She is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Texas State University.
Natalee finds great fulfillment in connecting with students and supporting them in their academic journeys. She is passionate about helping students achieve success by exploring resources, sharing information, and conducting research tailored to their individual needs. Natalee is deeply committed to being a reliable source of guidance and support, and she consistently goes above and beyond to assist students in any way she can.
